Am I allowed to film or take photographs during the festival?
Photography with mobile phones is generally permitted at concerts and shows. In exceptional cases, however, these may be prohibited by the organiser. Professional photographic equipment, e.g. with interchangeable lenses, SLR cameras or tablets, is prohibited at all events. Which items may not be taken onto the festival site?
Visitors to events are prohibited from carrying certain items in accordance with the Ordinance on the Construction and Operation of Places of Assembly (VStättVO-NRW) in conjunction with the Assembly Act (VersammlG), the First Weapons Act (WaffG) and the Narcotics Act (BtMG).
1. weapons of all kinds in accordance with the Weapons Act (WaffG) as well as projectiles, but also objects that can be used as weapons or projectiles or that by their nature are suitable for injuring persons or damaging property.
2. drugs of all kinds in accordance with the Narcotics Act (BtMG)
3. laser pointer
4. gas spray cans, corrosive or colouring substances (the ban on gas spray cans does not apply if irritants or active substances are approved as harmless to health, the objects are limited in range and spraying duration and bear an official test mark as proof of these requirements).
5. fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles (e.g. rockets, Bengal fire, smoke powder, flares, smoke bombs, sparklers, pressurised containers that are highly flammable, etc.).
6. materials that promote or increase the fire load (e.g. large quantities of paper, paper rolls, wallpaper rolls, confetti, etc., but also objects where highly flammable materials are distributed and ignited in such a way that a fire can start suddenly) and bulky objects such as ladders, stools, chairs, boxes, suitcases, etc.
7. food with the exception of sweets (sweets, gummy bears, biscuits, lollipops, Haribo, Tic Tac etc.) and baby and infant food
8. drinks of all kinds as well as bottles of all materials and cups, jugs, cans and glass (made of fragile, splintering or particularly hard material). Exceptions apply to guests who have to carry drinks due to illness. Upon presentation of a medical certificate or appropriate identification, up to 0.5 litres of PET and/or tetra packs may be carried. Catering for babies and small children is also exempt from the ban.
9. flags and banners may be brought into the LANXESS arena if the following criteria are met: a) a manufacturer's certificate is required in which the exact material designation, material composition and fire protection class are precisely listed. Fire protection class B1 is a prerequisite for taking along b) the edges must be rounded to avoid injuries c) the pole must be made of wood (easily breakable but not splintering material) and must not be longer than 1 m and the pole diameter must not be larger than 2 cm) any danger or visual obstruction of third parties must be ensured by proper and responsible handling e) banners, both commercially manufactured and self-made, must not exceed a maximum size of one square metre.
10. whistles or similar objects for producing loud sounds (e.g. gas pressure fanfares)
11. racist, xenophobic and right-wing extremist propaganda material
12. rucksacks and bags larger than DIN A 5, umbrellas, sticks (with the exception of sticks for the disabled) - may not be taken into the event rooms.
13. the use of photo/video cameras and other image and sound recording devices is generally not permitted at all events, with the exception of sports events for private purposes, but not for commercial use.
